The songs of Leonard Cohen are difficult to categorize. His songs are sometimes more like poems to music. ‘Hallelujah’ is probably the most widely known Cohen composition and has been covered many times, most notably by Jeff Buckley. This is a beautiful addition to the brass band repertoire and is suitable for young bands working on phrasing, intonation and musicality.

De liedjes van Leonard Cohen zijn moeilijk onder één noemer te brengen. Soms zijn het eerder gedichten op muziek. ‘Hallelujah’ is misschien wel de bekendste compositie van Cohen. Het nummer is door vele artiesten gecoverd, bijvoorbeeld door Jeff Buckley, in een versie die veel mensen zullen kennen. Deze prachtige toevoeging aan het brassbandrepertoire is met name geschikt voor jonge bands die werken aan frasering, intonatie en muzikaliteit.
