Holy Spirit, Gift of God, a text by Jaroslav Vajda, is set to the tune THE CALL by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Accompanied by organ, the choir (optionally congregation) sings stanzas one and four in unison, with soprano and oboe descant added for stanza four. Stanza two is sung by treble choir with organ and oboe accompaniment and stanza three is sung by unaccompanied SATB choir. The piece is appropriate for the festival of Pentecost and in word and music enumerates those gifts of the Spirit given to the community of saints, grace and peace, unity, new hope, heightened vision, and love. Reproducible part for Oboe (or Flute or Violin) is included.
