Published by Mitropa Music (BT.0957-02-140-M).Each year on the last Monday in June, the German city of Burgdorf celebrates the holiday of youth, the so called ‘Solennitat’. It is the most important event occurring in the city and consists of three processions walkingthrough the centre of town to celebrate, at the city’s expense, the good results achieved in school. This new work by Franco Cesarini takes it’s inspiration from this event and leads us through contrasting variations of a Swissfolk tune.
Deze compositie van Franco Cesarini bestaat uit een thema, drie variaties en een fuga ter afsluiting. Het uitgewerkte thema is te horen aan het begin, in een mysterieuze sfeer. Later, tijdens de variaties, wordt deze melodie gecamoufleerden langzamerhand onherkenbaar gemaakt. Uiteindelijk duikt ze weer op tegen het slot van de fuga, nu met een plechtig en feestelijk karakter - waarmee het werk pakkend eindigt.
Das feierliche Werk Solemnitas setzt sich aus Variationen über eine alte Weise zu einem traditionsreichen Schweizer Jugendfest zusammen.
Le dernier lundi du mois de juin a lieu en Suisse, la fête annuelle des enfants appelée “Solennität” (du latin solemnitas, “fête”). Solemnitas développe plusieurs variations et une fugue sur mélodie traditionnelle suisse que l’on chantait, jadis, durant la fête.
