(This Is) A Fine Romance A Rivendell String Quartet Arrangement - The Pop Standards Series Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers made ten motion pictures together: nine for RKO, and one for MGM. Everybody has their favorite, and mine is "Swing Time" (1936). Ohio State University professor and Astaire expert John Mueller has cited "Swing Time" for possessing "the greatest dancing in the history of the universe." The dance sequences for "Swing Time" (e.g. "Never Gonna Dance") are considered by dance writer Arlene Croce to be the high point of their art. Dorothy Fields and Jerome Kern (with a little help from Robert Russell Bennett) produced a magnificent score which included "Pick Yourself Up," the Oscar-winning "The Way You Look Tonight," "Waltz in Swing Time," "(This Is) A Fine Romance," "Bojangles of Harlem," and "Never Gonna Dance." As a special treat, at the end of the film Astaire and Rogers sing shortened versions of "A Fine Romance" and "The Way You Look Tonight" simultaneously. As can be seen from this current arrangement, the two songs fit together beautifully! Like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/rivendellarrangements.
