After teaching them for over six years, they were graduating and leaving for university. To fit the theme of the celebration, I decided to write them a trumpet march in the style of Elgar's Pomp and Circumstances. This trumpet quartet has since been used as processional and recessional music for graduation ceremonies all over the world.
Graduation March is in A flat concert with a modulation to G flat concert. The highest note is written A flat above the staff. The piece does utilize the lower register quite a bit and can sound muddy if played flat.
