Er sah seine Partitur als Gelegenheit an, den Reifungsprozess der Figuren in der Musik zu reflektieren. Neue Themen finden sich etwa für den Bösewicht Drago, die geheimnisvolle Valka und den Alpha-Drachen. Für den letzten Schliff schrieb er zwei Songs schrieb er gemeinsam mit dem isländischen Rückmusiker Jón Þór Birgisson ("Jónsi"): den Courting Song und Where No One Goes.
