FOREWORDThis album contains many of the pieces I’ve enjoyed playing at my Christmas concerts over the years, and which have been recorded on two discs. Along with well-known English carols such as Ding Dong Merrily on High, there are carols from Wales, Germany, France, and Spain, arranged for flute and piano, and sometimes with an extra flute or two, or percussion. All the arrangements have been especially collected and revised for this album by David Overton, who has been my arranger and music associate for many years. There are some easy arrangements, suitable for my young friends in Flutewise*, and some that are more difficult, both in the flute part and in the piano accompaniment; I hope you will all find something to enjoy, and that my notes on the individual items will be helpful.Sir James Galway_______________________________________See also the introduction to the individual pieces in the work on pages two and three.
