I've arranged several versions of this favorite gospel hymn, all of which start slow, get gradually faster and more improvisatory (though it's all written down), and slow up for the ending. Here the job of generating the swing and gospel feel falls to the piano (and of course the trumpet as well). I think, if you have a listen, you'll hear that no one else is needed.
