This was arranged specifically on a woodwind synth but generally it works well for any keyboard and is particularly convenient to those without access to a sustain pedal (as this function is not required to play the score "as per notation"). The arrangement includes the main ´head´ theme played twice but separated by the bridge (three sections total). For those not local to the UK this was, and remains since the 70s, the theme tune for the football (soccer) highlights programme Match Of The Day. The original is normally performed by two trumpets with a light orchestral backing, this arrangement (along with other elements, such as a major key) gives it a playful and almost 'Mariachi' style. From a study perspective this piece is great for practicing comping in the left hand, due to its mixed arrangement of polka/country bass line with mostly dyads, while generating familiarity with diatonic harmony in the right hand through its independent use of a harmonized melody. This is otherwise ideal for any sporting event with access to an organ or keyboard and for pleasure park/fairground settings.
