This wonderful duet for two sopranos (Lakmé and her maid Malika) talks of the beautiful flowers and bird song at the riverbank in the morning where the singers plan to swim. The dreamy, romantic quality of the music as well as its themes of water, nature and love, lend themselves perfectly for this solo harp arrangement. It is a favourite for wedding ceremonies.
This solo harp arrangement also contains the 'B' section from the song where Lakmé sings of her fears for the future, but Malika calms her with soothing words that lead effortlessly back to a repeat of the main song. This creates a more substantial piece suitable for recitals, but can be left out if the performer prefers.
