Inspired by the spirit of BWV 577, this work was composed for an organ with 2 manuals and pedals minimum.  It would make for an effective encore for a recital, lesson material, or a postlude on special feast days.  This is a bold, 4-voice dance fugue treated in triple counterpoint with 2 countersubjects maintained throughout, and it has a long subject which begins on scale degree 2, ends in a trill, and is supplied with a real answer in the dominant.  An entry in the dominant key follows the exposition in which the subject and both countersubjects are inverted.  Here a variant of the 2nd countersubject which stays within the upward limits of the soprano voice makes its appearance.  The episodes between entries are also built upon inversions of the subject and countersubjects.  After the subject enters in all nearly related keys it returns finally for an entry in the home key where the same variant of the 2nd countersubject appears right side-up.  The subject then undergoes a stretto at a 2-bar interval.  The coda ends in a very big sound with the addition of 2 more voices.  In the final cadence the top line is ornamented with a trill which is written into the notation to facilitate the intended execution.  This work moves at a very fast clip but is not fiendishly difficult and can be expected to be a crowd-pleaser with wide audience appeal.  Length:  126 measures.  Duration:  2:17.  Composer Bio page:  OrganBench.com .
