Published by Steven Monrotus (S0.429267).This work, by lacking a pedal part, is entirely playable on a one manual pipe organ without pedals, an electronic keyboard with pipe organ samples, a reed organ (harmonium), and has been arranged for piano. It would make for effective recital and lesson material, and a place also can be found for it in the worship service on special feast days. This is a brisk, 4-voice dance Fugue for full organ written in triple counterpoint with 2 countersubjects maintained throughout. Its subject is derived by rhythmic transformation of the main theme from Variations in C Major Op. 4, begins on scale degree 1, and is supplied with a real answer in the dominant. This subject retains the same upward leap of a major 6th in its melodic outline, thus, when it enters as a 4th voice in the exposition, and throughout each subsequent entry its outline is adjusted to "fit" into the available vertical space. The music proceeds at a fast clip and ends in 6 voices with a very full sound. This music proceeds at a fast clip but is also a toe-tapping crowd pleaser with with audience appeal. In this work the stretch for the hands is kept at an octave or less, and registration suggestions and indications for hand division are included with the score. Length: 103 measures. Duration: 1:56.
