Composed by Steven Monrotus. Contemporary Classical,General Worship,Repertoire,Technique Training,Recital. Score. 10 pages. Published by Steven Monrotus (S0.444821).

This work was composed for an organ with 2 manuals and pedals minimum.  It would make for not only effective recital and lesson material but a place could easily be found for it in the worship service where, as its name implies, it might serve as a very effective postlude.  This is a stand alone 4 voice fugue for full organ written in quadruple counterpoint with 3 countersubjects maintained throughout.  It starts very boldly on the 3rd scale degree with a subject pointing strongly to the dominant key, thus a real answer in the dominant is supplied.  As the music progresses, all 3 countersubjects take turns entering in the bass in chronological order.  The trill in the tail of the subject was written into the notation to facilitate the intended execution but is omitted when the subject enters in the bass, as the pedal is not concerned with it.  Episodes separating entries are of uniform length and constructed upon fragments of the subject, countersubjects, their inversions, and by means of sequences.  During these episodes the outer voices (soprano and bass) are silent as the 2 inner voices (alto and tenor) continue.  The music passes through all nearly related keys and one unrelated key (G Major) before closing on a big tonic chord with an added 2nd and double pedal.  As the tempo slows down in approach to this final chord the texture thickens as the harmonies shoulder each other aside.  In this work the stretch for the hands is kept at an octave or less.  Registration suggestions and indications for hand division are included with the score.  Length:  97 measures.  Duration:  3:14.  Composers Bio page:  OrganBench.com    .
