Composed by Steven Monrotus. Contemporary Classical,General Worship,Repertoire,Technique Training,Recital. Score. 9 pages. Published by Steven Monrotus (S0.440819).

This work was composed for an organ with 2 manuals and pedals minimum.  It would make for not only effective recital and lesson material but a place could easily be found for it in the worship service where, as its name implies, it would make an effective closing postlude.  This is a 4 voice fugue for full organ written in quadruple counterpoint with 3 countersubjects maintained throughout.  The subject begins boldly on the 3rd scale degree and has a tail which points to the dominant key, thus a real answer in the dominant is supplied.  The music passes through all related keys and one unrelated key (g minor), and all 3 countersubjects take turns entering in the bass.  Episodes are of uniform length and constructed upon fragments of the subject, countersubjects, their inversions, and by means of sequences.  During these episodes only the 2 inner voices (alto and tenor) continue to move.  The closing cadence is approached over a dominant pedal point as two more voices are added to the middle staff.  After a trill in the top line the piece finishes in 6 voices with a Picardy 3rd in the final chord.  Additional stops and couplers may be added for this coda with fine effect.  In this work the stretch for the hands is kept at an octave or less.  Registration suggestions along with indications for hand division are included with the score.  Length:  99 measures.  Duration:  3:14.  Composers Bio page:  OrganBench.com.
