Composed by Steven Monrotus. Contemporary Classical,General Worship,Repertoire,Technique Training,Recital. Score. 9 pages. Published by Steven Monrotus (S0.661895).

This work was composed for an organ with 2 manuals and pedals minimum.  It would make for not only effective recital and lesson material but a place could be easily found for it in the worship service where its first part might serve as a general Prelude and the ensuing Fugue possibly reserved for the postlude.  The Prelude begins quietly and is separated into 3rds, the first 2 sections of which use the Fugue's 1st and 2nd countersubjects, respectively, as thematic material.  This provides a very strong sense of unity to the entire work.  These sections are immediately followed by a 3rd and final combinatory section which is rounded off with a short coda.  The 3 sections are separated by 2 short modulating interludes, or links, each 3 bars long.  The Prelude ends with a full cadence in 5 voices with the final tonic chord preceded by a trill in the top line.  The related 4 voice Fugue which follows is written in triple counterpoint with both countersubjects maintained throughout.  Its subject begins on scale degree 1 and is supplied with a tonal answer in the dominant.  It passes through all nearly related keys and finishes in 5 voices employing a Picardy 3rd in the final chord preceded by another trill.  This music ends with great finality employing the full power of the instrument.  In this work the stretch for the hands is kept at an octave or less.  Registration suggestions along with indications for hand division are included with the score.  Length:  102 measures.  Duration:  3:46.  Composers Bio page:  OrganBench.com.
