Composed by Steven Monrotus. Contemporary Classical,General Worship,Repertoire,Recital. Score. 2 pages. Published by Steven Monrotus (S0.429181).

This work, while it may be performed on a 2 manual organ with pedals, was composed for a one manual organ without pedals, an electronic keyboard with pipe organ samples, a reed organ (harmonium), or even a piano.  It would make for not only effective recital and lesson material but a place could be easily found for it in the worship service where it might serve as an interlude in the liturgy or when the offertory must be played curtailed.  This is a short, easy work based upon a free theme for improvisation supplied, among many others, by Louis Vierne to his pupils.  It is identical in form to the No. 2 Bb Major Sketch, being made up of 3 phrases in the major key separated by 2 intervening periods in the minor key.  Both pieces are written in 4 part texture and end in 6 voices.  The phrases are harmonized in the major key and twice interrupted by contrasting periods where the melody lines are taken from one of the middle voices of the previous phrase.  These 2 sketches are a matched pair whose spicy harmony and identical architecture may be effectively emphasized using soft 8-foot foundation stops for the phrases in the major key, switching to a flute stop for the interrupting periods and reserving a Celeste stop for the final phrase and codetta.  In this work the stretch for the hands is kept at an octave or less.  Registrations suggestions are included with the score.  Length:  32 measures.  Duration:  1:46.  Composers Bio page:  OrganBench.com  .
